For over 30 years, Glenn Wilson has been an active performer and clinician on the jazz baritone sax. The All Music Guide recently described him as “an unsung hero in modern jazz”. Glenn Wilson has earned a Masters in Jazz Performance from the University of Illinois and a Bachelors in Music Education from Youngstown State University and is currently on the jazz faculty at the University of Illinois – Champaign/Urbana, where he teaches Jazz Pedagogy and Music Business, as well as saxophone studio and combos/ensembles. In his years in New York City (1977-1991), Glenn toured and recorded with *Buddy Rich*, *Lionel Hampton*, *Machito*, *Tito Puente*, *The Bill Kirchner Nonet*, *Mel Lewis*, *Toshiko Akiyoshi*, and *The Bob Belden Ensemble*. He has recorded 6 solo albums and has appeared on 21 others as a sideman. Glenn has been awarded a grant by the *National Endowment for the Arts *and his CDs are featured in the /_Grammaphone Guide to Good Jazz_/ and/ _The Penguin Guide to Jazz_/. Glenn has also recorded and toured with rock pianist *Bruce Hornsby.* From 1991-2001, Glenn lived in Richmond, VA and is currently a resident of central Illinois.
