The Chicago Connection

Bob Centano a native Chicagoan entered the world of music in the early 1950s…while still in high school was very active as musician and bandleader… during and after college toured with some of the great bands of the big band era…including the bands of Tex Beneke,Les and Larry Elgart,Ralph Flanagan,Ralph Martire and Claude Thornhill,as well as playing the jazz circuit in Chicago with many notables and legendary jazz greats including longtime friend Bob Ojeda…Over the years while touring with many of the bands and orchestras as well as famous entertainers, Mr Centano always maintained his bandleader status and with his own orchestra went on to do recordings and engagements which often included accompanying entertainers and singers,among them, Al Martino and Jerry Vale!

Today

Bob Centano is still active as both musician and bandleader…and when not performing with his own band manages to stay busy helping others including senior groups and orchestras,church groups…performing with’Oldtime Radio Players’

Current Gigs

Currently active with the newly formed Chicago Bar Association jazz orchestra…..Mr. Centano is often showcased at ‘Chambers. a supper club in Niles,Il. which offers a variety of entertainment.There he,s appeared wearing a number of hats,from directing large jazz orchestras to latin groups to musical comedy reviews
